These Valentine’s Day cookies are soft, buttery sugar cookies decorated with festive pink and red icing. Perfect for gifting, parties, and celebrating love.

Ingredients

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp almond extract (optional)

For Icing:

2 cups powdered sugar

23 tbsp milk

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Gel food coloring (pink/red)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.

3. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Beat in egg, vanilla, and almond extract.

5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until dough forms.

6. Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness and cut into heart shapes.

7. Place on baking sheets and bake 8–10 minutes until edges are set.

8. Cool completely before decorating.

9. Mix icing ingredients, color as desired, and decorate cookies.

Notes

Chill dough for 30 minutes if too soft to roll.

Let icing fully dry before stacking cookies.

Store in airtight container up to 5 days.
