These Swedish Meatballs are tender, juicy, and packed with comforting flavor. Made with a blend of beef and pork, then simmered in a rich creamy gravy, they are perfect served over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice for an easy family dinner.
2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
1/2 cup yellow onion, finely diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
1 large egg, beaten
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3/4 pound ground beef
1/2 pound ground pork
4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
2 cups beef broth
1 chicken bouillon cube
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 cup sour cream
Fresh parsley for garnish

1. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
2. Cook the diced onion and garlic for 5 minutes until softened. Let cool.
3. Combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, egg, milk, onion mixture, salt, oregano, allspice, nutmeg, and pepper in a bowl.
4. Add the ground beef and pork and gently mix until combined.
5. Roll the mixture into 1½-inch meatballs and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
6. Whisk together beef broth, bouillon, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and parsley.
7. Heat the remaining olive oil in a skillet and brown the meatballs on all sides in batches.
8. Remove the meatballs and set aside.
9. Melt butter in the skillet and whisk in the flour. Cook for 2 minutes.
10. Gradually add the broth mixture while stirring continuously.
11. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer.
12. Temper the sour cream with a small amount of warm sauce, then stir it into the gravy.
13. Return the meatballs to the skillet and spoon the sauce over them.
14. Cover partially and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes until fully cooked.

Do not overmix the meat mixture or the meatballs may become tough.

Ground turkey can replace pork if desired.
