This Salsa Cottage Cheese Dip is a creamy, high-protein appetizer made with cottage cheese, chunky salsa, black beans, avocado, and fresh cilantro. Ready in just 10 minutes, it’s a healthy, gluten-free snack that’s perfect for parties, game day, or a quick lunch.
1 cup (8 ounces) cottage cheese
1 cup chunky salsa, drained
1/4 cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 avocado, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, minced
Tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables, for serving
1. In a medium serving bowl, combine the cottage cheese with 3/4 cup of the drained chunky salsa.
2. Stir until well mixed.
3. Spread the remaining 1/4 cup of salsa evenly over the top.
4. Sprinkle the black beans over the salsa layer.
5. Top with the chopped avocado.
6. Garnish with the fresh minced cilantro.
7. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, crackers, pita chips, or fresh vegetables.
Drain the salsa before mixing to keep the dip thick and creamy.
Blend the cottage cheese first if you prefer an ultra-smooth texture.
Add the avocado just before serving to prevent browning.
Fresh homemade salsa provides the best flavor, but refrigerated chunky salsa also works well.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
Freezing is not recommended because the texture will change after thawing.
