Tender Salisbury Steak patties simmered in rich mushroom gravy for the ultimate comfort food dinner.
1/2 onion grated
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 lb ground beef
1 garlic clove minced
1 egg
2 tbsp ketchup
1 beef bouillon cube crumbled
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
3 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp olive oil
2 garlic cloves minced
1/2 onion finely chopped
150g mushrooms sliced
2 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
2 cups beef broth
1/2 cup water
2 tsp Dijon mustard
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper
1. Grate onion over breadcrumbs and let soak
2. Add remaining steak ingredients and mix thoroughly
3. Form mixture into five oval patties
4. Brown patties in hot skillet
5. Remove patties and set aside
6. Cook onion and garlic
7. Add mushrooms and sauté until golden
8. Add butter and flour to make roux
9. Gradually whisk in beef broth
10. Add mustard and Worcestershire sauce
11. Return patties to skillet
12. Simmer until gravy thickens and steaks cook through
13. Season to taste and serve
Serve over mashed potatoes for best results
