A moist and rich red velvet cake with a soft crumb and creamy frosting.

Ingredients

Scale

3 cups cake flour

1 tsp baking soda

2 tbsp cocoa powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup butter

2 cups sugar

1 cup oil

4 eggs separated

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 tsp vinegar

1 cup buttermilk

red food coloring

Instructions

1. Preheat oven and prepare pans

2. Mix dry ingredients

3. Beat butter and sugar

4. Add oil egg yolks vanilla and vinegar

5. Alternate dry ingredients and buttermilk

6. Add food coloring

7. Whip egg whites and fold into batter

8. Bake until done

9. Cool completely before frosting

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients

Do not overmix batter

Chill before slicing for clean cuts
