This ground beef and broccoli recipe combines savory beef, tender broccoli, colorful peppers, and a rich homemade sauce for an easy 30-minute dinner.
1 tablespoon peanut oil
3 cups broccoli florets
1 pound ground beef
1 yellow onion diced
1 red bell pepper sliced
Salt and white pepper
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
1 cup beef broth
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
3 cups cooked rice
1. Combine cornstarch and cold water in container and shake well
2. Mix remaining sauce ingredients together in bowl
3. Heat oil in skillet over medium heat
4. Cook broccoli for 4 to 5 minutes until slightly softened
5. Remove broccoli and set aside
6. Cook ground beef and onions until browned
7. Drain excess grease
8. Add sliced bell peppers and cook briefly
9. Pour sauce mixture into skillet and bring to boil
10. Stir cornstarch slurry into sauce
11. Cook until sauce thickens
12. Return broccoli to skillet and stir to combine
13. Serve over cooked rice
Use ground turkey or chicken if preferred
Frozen broccoli may also work if thawed and dried
Top with sesame seeds green onions or peanuts
