This Cottage Cheese Tzatziki is a creamy, refreshing, high-protein twist on the classic Greek dip. Made with blended cottage cheese, cucumber, garlic, fresh mint, dill, and lemon juice, it’s perfect as a healthy appetizer, snack, or sauce.
2 cups cottage cheese
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon dried dill
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups grated cucumber
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh mint
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1. Place the cottage cheese in a tall container or liquid measuring cup.
2. Blend the cottage cheese with an immersion blender or high-powered blender until completely smooth.
3. Transfer the blended cottage cheese to a mixing bowl.
4. Add the minced garlic, lemon juice, dried dill, and salt. Stir well and let the mixture rest for 10 minutes.
5. Grate the cucumber using a box grater.
6. Place the grated cucumber into a fine mesh sieve set over a bowl and press firmly to remove as much moisture as possible.
7. Add the drained cucumber, chopped mint, and olive oil to the cottage cheese mixture.
8. Mix everything until evenly combined.
9. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
10. Serve immediately or chill for 30 minutes for even better flavor.
Removing as much water as possible from the cucumber keeps the dip thick and creamy.
Fresh dill can be substituted for dried dill if preferred.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Serve with pita bread, crackers, fresh vegetables, grilled chicken, wraps, sandwiches, or as a healthy salad dressing.
For extra tanginess, add a little more lemon juice before serving.
