This Cottage Cheese Tzatziki Sauce is a creamy, high-protein twist on the classic Greek sauce. Made with blended cottage cheese, fresh cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, dill, mint, and olive oil, it’s the perfect healthy dip, spread, or sauce for grilled meats, vegetables, wraps, and pita.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups cottage cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 teaspoon dried dill

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups grated cucumber

2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh mint

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Instructions

1. Place the cottage cheese in a tall bowl, food processor, or blender.

2. Blend until completely smooth and creamy.

3. Transfer the blended cottage cheese to a mixing bowl.

4. Stir in the minced garlic, lemon juice, dried dill, and salt.

5. Let the mixture rest for 10 minutes while preparing the cucumber.

6. Grate the cucumber using a box grater.

7. Place the grated cucumber in a fine-mesh sieve and firmly press out as much liquid as possible.

8. Add the drained cucumber, chopped mint, and olive oil to the cottage cheese mixture.

9. Mix well until everything is evenly combined.

10. Refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes before serving for the best flavor.

Notes

Removing excess liquid from the cucumber keeps the sauce thick and creamy.

Full-fat cottage cheese creates the smoothest texture, but low-fat cottage cheese also works well.

Fresh dill may be substituted for dried dill.

For extra flavor, add freshly ground black pepper or a little extra lemon juice.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Stir before serving if natural separation occurs.

Do not freeze, as the texture may become watery after thawing.
