Soft homemade cinnamon rolls filled with buttery cinnamon sugar and topped with rich cream cheese icing. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup whole milk

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast

1 large egg

3 tablespoons softened butter

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

4 ounces cream cheese

2 tablespoons butter

2/3 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Whisk flour, sugar, and salt together in a bowl

2. Warm milk and butter until butter melts

3. Whisk yeast into warm milk mixture

4. Add milk mixture and egg to dry ingredients

5. Mix until a soft dough forms

6. Knead dough for 3 to 5 minutes until smooth

7. Rest dough for 10 minutes

8. Roll dough into a 14×8-inch rectangle

9. Spread softened butter over dough

10. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle evenly

11. Roll tightly into a log and cut into 10 to 12 rolls

12. Place rolls into a greased baking dish

13. Cover and allow to rise until doubled in size

14. Bake at 375°F for 24 to 27 minutes

15. Beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla

16. Spread icing over warm cinnamon rolls and serve

Notes

Use fresh instant yeast for best results

Avoid adding too much flour

Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 5 days

Freeze baked or unbaked rolls for up to 3 months
