Soft and chewy 4th of July Sugar Cookie Bars topped with creamy buttercream frosting and patriotic sprinkles.
3/4 cup unsalted butter
1/4 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter for frosting
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3-4 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Red white and blue sprinkles
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 13×9 baking dish.
2. Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
3. Add eggs one at a time then mix in vanilla.
4. Add flour salt and baking powder and mix until combined.
5. Press dough evenly into prepared baking dish.
6. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until lightly golden.
7. Cool completely before frosting.
8. Beat butter powdered sugar milk and vanilla until creamy.
9. Spread frosting over cooled bars.
10. Top immediately with patriotic sprinkles then slice and serve.
Do not overbake the cookie bars.
Add sprinkles immediately after frosting.
Store bars in an airtight container for several days.
